Preparation For Previously Painted Piece
- Clean surfaces with Paint Couture Fresh Start.
- Lightly sand glossy finishes with 220-grit paper.
- Remove wax using mineral spirits.
Application
Ensure newly painted surfaces are fully dry—about 2 hours depending on thickness of application and humidity.
To Apply:
- Brush, sponge, roll, or wipe the glaze onto your surface.
- Allow it to sit for a couple of minutes.
- Gently wipe back excess using a dry foam brush, cheesecloth, staining pad, or lint-free cloth.
- Avoid overworking the glaze. Work in small 16" × 16" sections on large pieces.
For a Deeper Effect:
- Apply in even brush strokes.
- Let dry 24 hours for a protective matte finish.
To Use as a Stain:
- Apply evenly to raw wood with staining pad or brush and wipe back extra.
- A second coat can be applied to deepen the color once the first coat is fully dry.
- Coverage decreases when used on raw wood as a stain.
Tips:
- Add Paint Couture Extender for longer working time.
- If your applicator becomes saturated, rinse it and squeeze out excess water before continuing.
Clean-Up
Warm, soapy water.
